Notes to follow  Quick facts Zákynthos, also known as Zante, is a city on the Ionian island of the same name, off Greece’s west coast. A ruined castle above the city attests to centuries of Venetian rule. The Byzantine Museum, with its arcade of arches, sits on central Solomos Square. Its displays of religious art include frescoes and icons. The belfry of the 16th-century Agios Markos Church was modeled on that of St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice.  Exotica Hotel And Spa. Arrived 4 th  May Hotel just opened so getting back into swing of things, the hotel is low key mainly for families and couples, pool area plenty of beds and new umbrellas and tables, by the 11 th  May a lot more people have arrived and towels were out at 6:00am, for certain spots no life guard on as yet. The Spa was now fully open just below the restaurant. Best to upgrade to a superior room we were in room 226 excellent views of the pool and surrounding areas. The room was as expected cleaner does an excellent job each day fresh towels etc. No complains. loved all the staff very friendly and keen to help you. Food well it is like marmite you either love it or hate it, breakfast is the standard fair as other hotels, lunch there is 12 serving plates covering 3 meats, pasta, pie, chips etc. but it looked like the 3 meat dishes were changed daily same as on an evening. Salad bar and dessert bar stays the same, each day, but you will find something each day to eat s

This hotel was on my bucket list to visit, after reading all the reviews over the last year. Date arrived 24 th September. If you are a party animal and looking to consume as much alcoholic as you can, just don’t come here, stay away, if you want to chill out, in peace and quiet, enjoy some sport or a walk this is the place to come, this is backed up by the returning visitors each year. For the price we paid for a week it was well under budget, for an all-inclusive and try as I do, could not find any faults or issues as mentioned in previous reviews. From arrival at the hotel, we arrived at 10:30am and the rooms were not ready, until 12:00pm, this was not a hardship we sat and enjoyed a couple of beers, so be aware if on an early flight, Once in the rooms we were given 338 which was at the back but at the end with a sea view as well .The rooms were tastefully decorated and refurbished to a high standard, bathroom was spotless and cleaned every day, Electric is operated

Oceanis Hotel Rhodes May 2014

It is the start of a new season, so let’s draw a line under the past comments over quality and service, the hotel is now under new management and it shows, the hotel manager is always around the hotel talking to guests, taking on board any comments they may make, Arrived on 7 th May first flights out of Newcastle, hotel quiet but became full by the end of the week. First impressions are of a modern hotel entrance and reception, area’s open and airy, giving a feeling of relaxation, Staff on reception are attentive and happy to discuss any questions you have. Bedrooms, are a bit dated but serve the purpose, they had started a revocation programme whilst there on floor 1 if you want peace and quiet book a room at the back otherwise sea views maybe noisy from traffic etc. Basic amenities as you would expect in a 3 -4 star hotel, rooms cleaned every day. As it is All inclusive plenty of choice in all spirits, wines and one beer on draught, just ask at the bar, you normally a

This review is based on the Fiesta Hotel Paraiso Floral and not the twin hotel next door. Length of stay 7 days 9 th February to 15 th February 2014 Arriving late afternoon transfer time around 40 minutes due to drop offs, Reception was quick and efficient, all staff well-mannered and happy to help, Bedroom/ Bathroom     Big and basic on 16 th Floor with excellent views up to mount teide and across los-Americas. Plenty of space lacking in furniture, no air con, old fashioned electrics 220v. bathroom plenty of fresh trowels each day, only soap supplied, but again large and airy, not sure if it was because of the 16 th floor but we had piping hot water all day, every day, which makes a change from other places,    Wi-Fi is available but at a cost 4 euros an hour, 10 euros a day but is available free outside in the bars, cafés and supermarket. No faults at all with the layout of the hotel, plenty of staff cleaning, serving, Lifts Now the lifts are a differen

Ionian Sea Hotel Kefalona

Image
How do you describe a hotel that you should not be at, due to the original hotel being cancelled 48 hours earlier and all Thomas Cook guests transferred to the Ionian Sea? Arriving late at night 10:00pm welcome meal waiting for us, and shown to the room which was more than agreeable, from the start the staff were great and friendly nothing was a bother, the main cliental are mainly polish and east European but don’t let this put you off, The few English were the ones transferred from the KGV.   It is all inclusive but you need to watch as there are two options, soft and hard, soft has no alcohol apart with meals and hard is alcohol all day, drinks package is very good one beer and 5 cocktails plus local spirits,, there is only one bar, at the pool drinks served in plastic cups, but don’t be shy to ask for a glass instead,, the glass size is a gill, so you will at least 3 to make a pint. Wine and beer served with all meals. Restaurant is all buffet service and caters for the

This was our second visit to the Arminda hotel and spa, and again could not fault it, even though it is all inclusive in a sense, it’s not for people who want to get as much food or drink down your neck, this hotel offers a chilled out atmosphere, basic entertainment on a night, this year I noticed it is geared up for the kids from, 9:00am to 9:00pm who all seemed to enjoy it. We emailed ahead for a choice of room in the block above the snack bar/pool, and were not disappointed, the reception on booking in was first class, and the staff really friendly, The room we choose was 322 on the second floor, gives panoramic views from Hersonissos on the left to Stallis on the right overlooking the bay, The room is large and airy with fridge, TV and the normal extras, Mainly used the top pool next to the block, but does get busy so you need to be early with your towels etc., Snack bar opens at 10:00am and Water is free from the cooling machine, just save your empty b

Hotel Don Pedro Cala San Vincente

First impressions of the hotel is a really impressive entrance from the road, nice reception area, then it was downhill, Weather it was an off day, but the reception staff have no customer service, theirs your key, go away no welcome no paperwork about the hotel, where anything is, nothing, when asked where the restaurant is, answer find it that way, A poor start, I believe they expect you to be one of many who returns every few months and know your way around. In the room still no information , Rooms are very basic compared to modern hotels, no hair dryer,   bathroom clean but old, TV old style a few channels in English and one plug for Electric, no fridge, Air Conditioning good , as you need to put your   key in the slot to activate the electric, a handy tip is to use an old credit card or something that size and leave in the slot when you go out!! , to allow air conditioning to stay on, We used our E111 card worked a treat. Now the room position we were in the drea

Arriving late afternoon, hotel around 40 minutes from the airport depending on drop offs, , Reception and check in was very quick and easy, Explained the routine and shown to the rooms, staff are so laid back, its unbelievable, in a friendly way, The room we were in was in the block above the Snack bar. First impressions was a light airy large room, air conditioning free, Fridge ( empty ), no kettle for hot drinks, bathroom well maintained and clean, make sure you take a bath plug just in case!! Towels are changed 3 times a week, this includes your first night, no room service on a Sunday, No waistbands to wear, which is a good thing, All drinks that are A/I is help yourself, wine beers and soft drinks from the pull 2 spirits (ouzo, raki and brandy) from the bottle at the end of the counter, anything else you pay for. Bar staff keep the place clean and tidy collecting empties etc., so you know what you are getting A/I, Snack bar good choice of sandwiches, sweets, nibbles

Farana Club and Residence

We were there from 16 th Feb to the 23 rd Feb for a relaxed chilled out holiday, and that is what we got. Airport was a bit hit and miss, finding transfers was a laugh, no reps in the airport, and suitcases for 4 flights on one baggage belt was a bit of a bun fight, coming back, long queues for both scanning of cases and through customs, beware you need to fill in an exit visa card as well, so have a pen handy or ask for extra cards on the plane coming out, General room   On arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by the desk manager with a drink and cool hand towels to refresh, who explained all the hotel and that we were the only English couple in today, we were booked for the garden section, but were told we were upgraded to the superior rooms facing the pools with the extra added, the good wife still thinks I had planned this, but did not, the room was as excepted , good size with walk in shower, fridge, coffee tea and kettle, safe (free) plenty of electric   points, T

Hotel Leo Can Pistella

Coming to its sell by date. This is the third time at the Leo in 3 years, and its starting to show its age, Again the hotel is in an ideal position, close to beach etc and within easy reach for the airport. We decided to stay full board this time, and really enjoyed the meals, breakfast plenty of choice and there were 3 microwaves around the room to use if needed, plenty of choice, both hot and cold, Lunch was a calming experience, as there were never more than 15 tables covered, and there was a good spread of meals on display to choose from, to enjoy at a comfortable pace, Evening meal you need to time your entrance, as it will get rather full and there is no urgently to clean tables for new arrivals, sometimes causing queuing at the door. Again rooms are basic, but clean, no fridge or kettle etc., air conditioning is hit and miss, but if you are willing you can pay 39 euros to hire a fridge, bathroom clean and functional, now , plenty of hot water,   There are 3 views to

Just returned from a week’s break, at the aquis after reading past reviews needed to see what the bad reviews were about, maybe I stayed at a different hotel but could not fault it., Think of a island within an Island, once the coach drops you off at the top of the village, you are taken down the steep road to the bottom, and only the brave try to walk back up. Renovated for the new season looking clean and fresh, decoration to a high standard. You do need to do your homework, beforehand so you are not disappointed, as there are no shops bars etc., just the hotel and the beach, so once you enter you there for the duration. On arrival the reception could not have being better, one form to fill in, staff were very pleasing to help, your cases were then carried down to the room, There are 146 rooms facing the sea and only 35 inland, so you should be lucky to receive a sea view, it’s worth emailing the hotel the day before to request one. Rooms were to a good standard, black out curt
Why Prague, beautiful city, cheap beer, food etc great for a break. Stayed for 4 nights this time, will now record 4 days of the action and events. Booked for 4 nights, with being a small hotel was worried of over booking, but there were no concerns all paperwork was waiting and the room ready, plus I like it when you pay at the end of your visit, We had a large room 60Sq. metres on the top floor with views of 3 sides of the hotel, The Room was set out as an open suite with bedroom, sitting area and bathroom, plus lots of space for cloths etc. plenty of hot water and heating. Breakfast was basic but more than enough for choice, There is an evening restaurant but not used as it closes at 8. Small bar area again not used. Reception was very helpful, plenty of information etc. Only a short walk away from bars, and cafes and restaurants but be watchful of the prices they charge, found some little gems in the area so do your homework, 10 minute walk to the Charles Bridge and other sights, Overall a cheerful experience and will use again and recommend this little gem of a hotel to friends and family.

Can Pistella leo hotel

Just back from the Leo, second visit, again no faults, it done what it said on the tin, Ok its cheap, set back 200metres from the sea front, full of holiday guests from various countries, there was around 4-6 couples from England, but that is the appeal of the place, you go with the flow, don’t judge it against other English hotels, if you want Thomson’s, book with them , Right after converting Euros to English cost was £33.00 per night for the room half board, full board was a extra £5, flights were cheap as well so was a perfect finish to the Year, under under£350 for 5 nights, booked with Booking.com and Easy jet and again used the 2 euro transfer bus. Bedrooms plain and simple, cleaned very day, lucky this time with a pool/sea view on the 5th floor, ask for 557 in a great spot, TV 1 English channel but never it, you can hire a fridge for 30 Euros, but here is the rub there is only one plug for the fridge or TV you decide, clean towels every day, hard and grey but done the job,

Royal Kenz Tunisca 2010

Image
Back from the Royal Kenz on the 29th August, after reading the reviews over the last 4 months, not sure if we were in the same hotel. Could not fault the hotel or the experience, as a seasoned reviewer will mention areas separate. We arrived late i.e. 10:30pm and as the coach was full 40 guests plan B went into action, whilst I get the cases, the good wife heads for check in, always first in, and by the time I arrive with cases everything is sorted, Key in hand we head for the room, we were lucky to have asked ahead for the new block, standard rooms but twice the size, yes you are facing the main road, but the peace and quiet, it was great. The room measures a good 17 yards by 5 yards, flat screen TV new air con chilled to 5c each night, consent hot water, extra large bed and a sitting area, all were tiled with a small carpet. We took our own kettle, coffee etc, no need to upgrade to a superior room ask for rooms over 625-631. As we were all inclusive we soon filled the fridge w

ANANIAS Apartments

First of all a big thank you to the following couples who made this a perfect holiday, Terry and Anne John and Phyllis, Sam and Lucy, Sandy, and everyone else we mixed with. On arrival rooms not ready due to leavers etc., so made full use of bar area, and getting to know everyone there, beautiful views overlooking the sea, Buildings still looking a bit for wear, a good paint job would freshen them up, On arrival in the rooms (135) upstairs first impressions very basic, good fridge size, cooking = 2 rings, assorted pans etc., and electric kettle, so you need to be aware before planning any large dinner parties, but we managed fine, Bathroom lack of plugs which is the norm, and no shower hook for shower head, so you need to be good at multi-tasking, at the end of a shower, normally 4 to 6inches water in the bath around your feet, so be prepared, slow drainage, Towels fresh and hard, and changed mid-week, note you get your first toilet roll free, then you buy your own, good super
