San Luis hotel S`Algar Mencora

This hotel was on my bucket list to visit, after reading all the reviews over the last year.

Date arrived 24th September.

If you are a party animal and looking to consume as much alcoholic as you can, just don’t come here, stay away, if you want to chill out, in peace and quiet, enjoy some sport or a walk this is the place to come, this is backed up by the returning visitors each year.

For the price we paid for a week it was well under budget, for an all-inclusive and try as I do, could not find any faults or issues as mentioned in previous reviews. From arrival at the hotel, we arrived at 10:30am and the rooms were not ready, until 12:00pm, this was not a hardship we sat and enjoyed a couple of beers, so be aware if on an early flight, Once in the rooms we were given 338 which was at the back but at the end with a sea view as well .The rooms were tastefully decorated and refurbished to a high standard, bathroom was spotless and cleaned every day, Electric is operated by your key card, so if you need to leave air-condition on take an old credit card or simpler, works a treat.

The all-inclusive package is a better standard then the Greek isles with a full choice of drinks on all local spirits and one beer, and it is in glass on an evening, never saw it abused at any time, plenty of staff to serve, no big que’s as such. Yes the drinks start at 11:00am but if you are really need something the shop is only a 2 minute away.

Plenty of friendly staff from reception, waiters, cleaners, all very efficient in their jobs to please you, it makes a change being treated as a customer.

In the restaurant it is all buffet service, and you just grab a table, either inside or out, staff are on hand to provide you with all drinks etc. the services areas (5) are well laid out from salads, soups, grilled meats and hot dishes, sweets are few, but after eating your starts and main courses, not really required. Picnic bags are available as well. Never had a bad meal yet, found a different choice every day, the food can be a bit warm but we used the microwave to heat up.

Around the pool we found no bother in obtaining sun loungers from 9:30am and there was still plenty in the afternoon two pools which were well used.

Night time entertainment, we must have hit lucky, good singers and groups on each night, there was a young girl from Cape Town on, who will do well, entertained everyone on the night.

Tips:

Pay the 15 euro for the internet for the week, works at all times all over the hotel, or it is 3 euro’s per day, you can have a free 1 hour at lunchtime in the reception area.

Overall a big thank you to the management for making this an enjoyable stay, and would recommend here to family and friends and will return.
