Pelekas Beach hotel Corfu

Just returned from a week’s break, at the aquis after reading past reviews needed to see what the bad reviews were about, maybe I stayed at a different hotel but could not fault it., Think of a island within an Island, once the coach drops you off at the top of the village, you are taken down the steep road to the bottom, and only the brave try to walk back up. Renovated for the new season looking clean and fresh, decoration to a high standard. You do need to do your homework, beforehand so you are not disappointed, as there are no shops bars etc., just the hotel and the beach, so once you enter you there for the duration.


On arrival the reception could not have being better, one form to fill in, staff were very pleasing to help, your cases were then carried down to the room, There are 146 rooms facing the sea and only 35 inland, so you should be lucky to receive a sea view, it’s worth emailing the hotel the day before to request one.

Rooms were to a good standard, black out curtains, TV phone etc., maids in each day, no problems with changing towels etc., all decoration matched to the colour scheme which was pleasing to the eye, Air conditioning was free, You are provided with one bottle of water, the tip is you take it to the bar for a refill or pay 1;50 euro for a fresh bottle Bathroom is well provided with soaps bottles of various lotions etc., plus an extra phone next to the toilet, not sure why!!! Good shower and bath, but as is the norm you need to pack a spare bath plug with you, if you want a bath. Plenty of hot water at any time. A DVD player is provided so pop some in your case, as it is limited at reception.

The rooms are in blocks on various levels with steps up and down, so are unsuitable for the infirm, or disabled, limited ramps, if the stair lift is off. And also the beach is a no-no if you are a wheel chair user or with walking difficulties due to the location.

The staffs are some of the best I have come across, all willing to serve and help in any way, particular Anna and Inini at the pool bar, Jorgerios in the top bar, and Stellios who was everywhere.

All the management staff were on hand including Helen who is English and it was worthwhile having a talk to them for whatever reason.

Bar service were no problem slight queues at busy times plenty of choice of various drinks but you need your card with you at all times so defeats the object of no waist band, served in plastic around the pool in 330c glasses. Whether it is beer, wine or cocktail it is 330c

Meals were served in Pergola Restaurant next to the pool area, again well-staffed, and tables kept cleared and changed,

The Olive Tree which is A la carte is now chargeable but worth a visit, opens 7:00pm to 9:00pm. It offers a good choice of food and bottled wine, enjoyed the sunset from there, Stellios the head waiter whilst their tells a good story,



Meals were of a good standard plenty of choice at each session, various meats, fish, veggie, grill, salads, soups, desserts, Wine and beer is on tap so help yourself. Seating was either outside or in, you need to find the best time to go down to the restaurant, normally very busy around 8:00pm. At breakfast full English was on each day plus choice of eggs and cut meats/ chesses etc., so no one should go hungry plenty of coffee either waiter service or help yourself.



Entertainment , there were 2 animation teams, bit hitty missy, you either join in or you don’t, but is laid back, The Greek night is the highlight of the week around the pool, Plenty of water sports, volleyball, etc.



Made full use of the free Wi-Fi with my kindle, allowing me to pick up the daily papers from home, check my emails etc., best reception was around the pool or in open space. There were 3 PC, s in the lounge area, at a small cost.



Sun beds was no issue, the routine was bring your towels with you to breakfast and place them on the loungers, enjoy your breakfast and take a coffee back there, plenty of umbrellas and of a good quality, On the beach there is a charge now of 7 Euros for sun beds so take your choice,

Are we going back, yes defiantly, booking this week, one of the best chilled out breaks ever and value for money, this is the standard all hotels should be, but you will either love it or hate, if you just turn up without doing your homework.
