Catalunya Bus turistic offer a ideal half day trip to visit 2 of the main wine producers in the region, mainly Jean Leon and Torres, to book the trip. The half day tour will take you to two cellars of the Penedès area where you will find out the elaboration of wine and you will taste several wines and recieve a free bottle to take home. The ticket will include:
Guided tour and tasting of two different wines at Jean Leon Winery.
Guided tour, tasting of two different wines and a sampling of tapas at Torres Winery.
Tasting of one wine at the Vinoteca Torres in Barcelona.
Free bottle of Sangre de Toro.
All for a discounted price of 45euros if you book online, and the pickup point is Departs at 8.30am from Plaça de Catalunya (in front of El Corte Inglés). Passengers should arrive 15 minutes before the coach departs.and will last appox to 2.00pm depending on traffic.
Jean Leon
The first visit is to Jean Leon Winery The new visitors centre is located at the heart of the estate and is integrated naturally into the vineyard landscape following the curve of the mountainside.
The winery, situated at the heart of the Penedés region, combines tradition with the most modern winemaking techniques. It is acknowledged as having been one of the first wineries in Spain to have fermented white wines in oak casks.
The tour normally starts with a video on the coach explaining the history of Jean Leon, this will allow time in the winery, after a tour of the cellars and the wine making vats, you then sample 2 of the wines one white, one red and then have a option to purchase.
Torres.
The next part of the tour is a short ride 20 -30 minutes to the Torres empire, not like a winery but more of a bottlng factory , but it is good to compare the 2 .

After the video you enter a tunnel for a short show on the culture of the vines and then a train arrives to escort you around the grounds.
Where you will see the large expanse of the wineary and bottling procedure
After the tour there is the tasting and a small bunch to share,
Followed by a visit to the shop where you will recieve your free bottle of Wine (375mls)
to finish the tour you visit back in Barcelona , Vinoteca Torres for your final tasting of a wine
