Cana Bona : Hotel Levante

Just returned from Hotel Lavente on March 19th, and as this is a Thomson gold Hotel decided to spilt the review in two halves,

The Hotel itself,

Bedrooms everything you can expect of a Spanish hotel, all carpeted, cleaned every day, TV all 7 English channels including sky sports and news, Bathroom clean large and spacious, plenty of hot water, mini bar empty so it’s a case of popping to the local spar and stock up, with water, drinks etc, at this time of year heating was on full, there was a sea full from the balcony as we were on the side in the square facing the main entertainment hall, and was in the shade from early in the morning, if you want the sun all day book a Superior room which have a pool and sea view. Again kettles are not standard in all rooms, only superior rooms so take your own.

Main restaurant, buffet style service, just grab a table and eat, 2 gala nights over the week, plenty of choice, but why do they use tinned Veg!!!, also food tended to be warm to cold, a simple microwave on show would solve this problem, There is a grill where in the morning various eggs are cooked and on the night a joint to carve and fresh fish and meat to grill while you wait.

Made full use of the Sauna, Turkish bath and 2 hot tubs on 3rd floor where there are sun beds as well on the terrace

Overall the hotel is kept clean and tidy by all the staff, so for the Hotel it scores 9 out of 10 because of the warm food.

Thomson Gold

Stayed at many of the Thomson gold, and must say this has being the poorest, whether it was because the end of winter season, not sure, Entertainment on a night think it as Cala Bona working man’s club, every night is bingo night, guest stars were has beings who have retired to the island either one man comic or singer, 2 young Thomson reps infilling with quizzes etc, and a resident trio to match, no Dazzling Entertainment – as there is only one bar in the hotel , you are tied to the room, no lounges apart from a quiet room upstairs, maybe it’s because the age range was over 65 to 80 and were repeat customers they could get away with what was offered,

Through the day it’s the normal mini games on the hour if you want to join in, let’s hope it improves for the summer season, maybe it’s time to drop the gold from this hotel.
