Notes to follow  Quick facts Zákynthos, also known as Zante, is a city on the Ionian island of the same name, off Greece’s west coast. A ruined castle above the city attests to centuries of Venetian rule. The Byzantine Museum, with its arcade of arches, sits on central Solomos Square. Its displays of religious art include frescoes and icons. The belfry of the 16th-century Agios Markos Church was modeled on that of St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice. Arminda hotel and Spa 2013 crete

Image
This was our second visit to the Arminda hotel and spa, and again could not fault it, even though it is all inclusive in a sense, it’s not for people who want to get as much food or drink down your neck, this hotel offers a chilled out atmosphere, basic entertainment on a night, this year I noticed it is geared up for the kids from, 9:00am to 9:00pm who all seemed to enjoy it. We emailed ahead for a choice of room in the block above the snack bar/pool, and were not disappointed, the reception on booking in was first class, and the staff really friendly, The room we choose was 322 on the second floor, gives panoramic views from Hersonissos on the left to Stallis on the right overlooking the bay, The room is large and airy with fridge, TV and the normal extras, Mainly used the top pool next to the block, but does get busy so you need to be early with your towels etc., Snack bar opens at 10:00am and Water is free from the cooling machine, jus...

First impressions of the hotel is a really impressive entrance from the road, nice reception area, then it was downhill, Weather it was an off day, but the reception staff have no customer service, theirs your key, go away no welcome no paperwork about the hotel, where anything is, nothing, when asked where the restaurant is, answer find it that way, A poor start, I believe they expect you to be one of many who returns every few months and know your way around. In the room still no information , Rooms are very basic compared to modern hotels, no hair dryer,   bathroom clean but old, TV old style a few channels in English and one plug for Electric, no fridge, Air Conditioning good , as you need to put your   key in the slot to activate the electric, a handy tip is to use an old credit card or something that size and leave in the slot when you go out!! , to allow air conditioning to stay on, We used our E111 card worked a treat. Now the room position ...

Farana Club and Residence

We were there from 16 th Feb to the 23 rd Feb for a relaxed chilled out holiday, and that is what we got. Airport was a bit hit and miss, finding transfers was a laugh, no reps in the airport, and suitcases for 4 flights on one baggage belt was a bit of a bun fight, coming back, long queues for both scanning of cases and through customs, beware you need to fill in an exit visa card as well, so have a pen handy or ask for extra cards on the plane coming out, General room   On arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by the desk manager with a drink and cool hand towels to refresh, who explained all the hotel and that we were the only English couple in today, we were booked for the garden section, but were told we were upgraded to the superior rooms facing the pools with the extra added, the good wife still thinks I had planned this, but did not, the room was as excepted , good size with walk in shower, fridge, coffee tea and kettle, safe (free) plenty of electric   ...
